Our award-winning golf course was exclusively designed by the iconic duo of Andy North, a two-time U.S. Open winner, and Roger Packard, the late golf course architect prodigy.

The Dream Team

As the son of golf architect Edward Lawrence Packard or more commonly referred to as Larry Packard, naturally Roger became a golf-course architect given the legacy and imprint his father left on the golf community after his passing in 2014.

Even as an adolescent, Roger worked closely with his father on numerous course-construction projects before graduating from Colorado State University in 1969 with a landscape architecture degree. For the next 15 years, this father-son duo collaborated on multiple notable layouts, with Roger spearheading most of them to incorporate the use of free form sculpting on tee complexes, across courses in the United States, Egypt, Guatemala, among other international locations. With more than 250 courses worldwide, Packard’s courses are an important fixture in the golf world.

The Whitetail Club course is among the 250 in Packard’s catalog but is only one of six courses that was also designed by the golf great, Andy North. North, who turned professional in 1972 has 2 PGA Tour victories on his long roster of accomplishments. His experience in playing professionally around the globe gave him the insights on what makes a course good enough for a Professional to play on.

This golf dream team designed Whitetail Club’s course in 2002, making this the 20^th anniversary. Certainly, something to celebrate!

Golfing Year-Round in McCall

And similar to some of Roger's other architectural golf course design developments, the Whitetail Club Golf Course is a well-designed course with the intention of being enjoyable for any skill level yet challenging for the avid golfer.

According to Whitetail Club's Real Estate Sales Executive and former PGA Tour professional Joey Snyder, Whitetail Club's Golf Course has some of the best greens he's putt on, not just in Idaho, but in the nation. Snyder spoke highly of the course regarding its manicured greens, picturesque scenery of rugged mountains, and occasional wildlife bordering the course’s edge.

“Golf is like a chess match. You must go from one point to the next and settle on your next move. And this golf course fits that perfectly because of all the beautiful aspects that surround it," said Snyder. “When golfing in the wilds of McCall, it’s not rare to spot a deer, squirrels, different bird types, and the occasional moose or black bear. It’s truly one of the greatest joys of playing golf in the summer.”

Evidently enough, the golf course has its share of surprises. Its fourth hole is interchangeably either a par-4 or par-5 every other day and has hidden shortcuts through sky-scraping pine trees at the second and eighth holes; the Whitetail Club Golf Course is thrilling to play on.

Summer days are never-ending in McCall. With the sunrise spilling over the Salmon River Mountains around 6:00 a.m. and the sun setting at 10:30 p.m. during peak summer months, you can plan for an entire day full of outdoor recreational activities before hitting the greens.

“Some of our members complete a hike, go for a swim, bike through our single-track mountain bike trails all before noon and then reserve the remainder of the day for the star on property – the golf course.
